VÁCLAV HAVEL

Listuju si takhle učebnicí na Government a najednou vidím: Vaclav Havel (ach, bez čárky :D). Ooh, to mě zajímá, co o nás píšou Amíci :D. Je to v okénku Voices of Government, kde se vždycky prezentuje nějaká osobnost z politiky. A v kapitole Russia najdu Havla. Tak si počtěte:
VOICES OF GOVERNMENT
The carrer of Vaclav Havel - playwright, essayist, and politician - symbolizes the great changes in world politics in the second half of the twentieth century. When Czechoslovakia was under Soviet domination, Havel went to jail for his dissident views. The the country peacefuly overthrew the Communist regime, and he became the Czech president. On New Year´s Day 1990, he spoke about the future: "We cannot blame the previous rulers for everything, not only because it would blunt the duty that each of us faces today, namely the obligation to act independently, freely, reasonably, and quickly. Let us not be mistaken: the best government in the world, the best parliament and the best president, cannot achieve much on their own. ...freedom and democracy include participation and therefore responsibility from us all."
EVALUATING THE QUOTATION
(a) What do you think Havel means by "participation"?
(b) Why might the transition to democracy be difficult for people after 40 years of totalitarian rule?
Toť k Havlovi. Teď mi Marta říkala, že přišel dopis z mé americké organizace CIEE, který je "informuje", že za pár měsíců přijede jejich exchange studentík. Ale já už sem tady :D. No co říct, že by americká blbost?
